Our 2024/2025 program calendar is currently full. Registration for TEXcursions in the 2025/2026 school year is now open!

TEXcursions: Where   Education   Hits   the   Road!

ECHO Education's TEXcursions are travel-based programs that place the classroom on wheels! We bring textbooks to life with lessons, games, and activities on first-class charter buses and in premier venues and museums across Texas.
Enjoy a fully-hosted day alongside your young scholars- the future leaders of Texas!

TEXcursion   Inclusions:

  • Free and simple program registration​
  • Entry to all venues on program itinerary + any meal listed in program description

  • ECHO Education Program Facilitators and Director lead all activities on day of trip

Ice Age: Texas
​3rd Grade

Participants visit the Waco Mammoth National Monument where students examine the remains of an entire nursery herd of mammoths and learn about the Ice Age in Texas. The group then travels to the Mayborn Museum where they delve into Texas’ natural history, wonders, and curiosities!

Digging Up History
​3rd & 5th Grade

Participants travel to Georgetown where they'll tour Inner Space Cavern. ECHO Education leads activities above ground where students learn about cave systems in Texas and become Rock Detectives by identifying different minerals and fossils- some of which they take home! The group then travels to Waco Mammoth National Monument where students examine the remains of a nursery herd of Columbian Mammoths and learn about the Ice Age in Texas. 

All participants need to bring a lunch; dinner is included.

Texas History & Science Alive 
​4th Grade

Participants tour the State Capitol of Texas and the Texas State Visitors Center in Austin before traveling to Georgetown where they explore a natural solution cave, mine for minerals, fossils, and gems, and play games that expand the learning experience- all led by ECHO Education staff! The day is filled with learning about our state government and leaders, tales, and heroes at the Capitol and Visitors Center before taking a look underground to learn about the ancient history of this great state! "Variety is the spice of life" on this cross-curricular TEXcursion!

Texas History Alive
​4th & 7th Grade

Participants tour the State Capitol of Texas, the Capitol Visitors Center, and the Bullock Texas State History Museum. The day is filled with learning about the history that has formed our Lone Star State. From early indigenous tribes, to the six flags that have flown over Texas, to the workings of our state government-students will explore big names and epic events throughout Texas history! 

All participants need to bring a lunch; dinner is included.
$125/participant

Making Waves with Water
​5th & 6th Grade

Participants on the Making Waves with Water program learn about the ecology of a wetland and their role in the overall health of our ecosystem. During their exploration of the wetlands, students will collect and analyze macroinvertebrate data at the John Bunker Sands Wetlands Center to determine the health of the wetland. Students will also learn about the water cycle and discover through activities if they are a "Water Saver" or "Water Waster" as they explore the idea of sustainable development. Students will also learn the power of mimicking nature as they learn about vermicomposting and different naturally occurring cycles!
