Where Education Hits the Road!

ECHO Education's TEXcursions are travel-based programs that place the classroom on wheels! We bring textbooks to life with lessons, games, and activities on first-class charter buses and in premier venues and museums across Texas.

From simulated missions in space to exploring the rich, textured history of Texas, we have the program for you!

Texas History Alive
​Austin

  1-Day // 6:00 AM- 7:30 PM

Participants tour the State Capitol of Texas, the Capitol Visitors Center, the Texas State Cemetery, and the Bullock Texas State History Museum. The day is filled with learning about the history that has formed our Lone Star State. From early indigenous tribes, to the six flags that have flown over Texas, students will explore big names and epic events throughout Texas history. All participants need to bring a lunch; dinner is included.

Digging Up History 
​Waco +  Georgetown

  1-Day // 6:00 AM- 5:30 PM

Participants visit the Waco Mammoth National Monument where students examine the remains of an entire nursery herd of mammoths and learn about the Ice Age in Texas. The group then travels to Georgetown to tour Inner Space Cavern. Students learn about cave systems in Texas and become Rock Detectives by identifying different minerals and fossils- some of which they take home! All participants need to bring a lunch; dinner is included.

Texas Roots

An expanded and alternative packaging of our flagship program, Texas History Alive, participants tour the State Capitol of Texas, The Capitol Visitors Center, the Texas State Cemetery, and travel back to the 1800s on a tour of Pioneer Farms on the Texas Roots program. The program expands ECHO Education’s mission of offering experiential learning by going back in time to explore an 1841 Tonkawa Encampment, an 1868 German Emigrant Farm, an 1873 Texian Farm, an 1887 Cotton Planter's Farm and an 1899 Sprinkle Corner rural village. The Texas Roots program explores the textured story of Texas- it’s rich diversity, and the hardworking spirit that makes us proud to be Texan. All participants need to bring a lunch; dinner is included.

Texas History & Science Alive
​Austin + Waco or  Georgetown

  1-Day // 6:00 AM- 7:30 PM

Participants tour the State Capitol of Texas and the Texas State Visitors Center in Austin. For your third venue, choose a scientific extension by visiting either the Waco Mammoth National Monument or Inner Space Cavern in Georgetown. The day is filled with learning about our state government and leaders, tales, and heroes at the Capitol and Visitors Center before taking a look underground to learn about the ancient history of this great state! All participants need to bring a lunch; dinner is included.

Making Waves With Water
​Seagoville

  1-Day // 7:30 AM- 4:00 PM

Participants on the Making Waves With Water program learn about the ecology of a wetland and their role in the overall health of our ecosystem. During their exploration of the wetlands, students will collect and analyze data at the John Bunker Sands Wetlands Center. Students will also learn about the water cycle when they build a watershed. They discover through activities if they are a "Water Saver" or "Water Waster" as they explore the idea of sustainable development. Lunch is included.

Texas: It's a Go, Mission Control

  1-Day // 7:30 AM- 4:00 PM

The Texas: It’s a Go Mission Control! program offers a one of a kind STEM focused program for all students in grades 5th-12th. Students will work in teams to complete a simulated space-themed mission at The Challenger Learning Center in Waco, Texas. While working in both the Mission Control and the Space Station simulation rooms, participants use communication and critical thinking skills to complete the TEKS-aligned tasks. Lunch is included. 

Excursion-Based programs include the following:

  • Entry to all venues on program itinerary
  • ECHO Education planning coordinator
  • ECHO Education Program Facilitators and Director lead all activities on day of trip
  • Pre-program activities to prepare for day-of experience
  • Post-program activities to extend program curriculum beyond your trip
  • Participant souvenir t-shirt
  • Activity Guide and pen
  • Program souvenir for students 
  • School souvenir
  • First class charter transportation
  • Free and simple program registration
  • Program fee for Lead Teacher and one Administrator covered by ECHO Education!​
